Please join me for a short episode where I hope to make the case to become Twitters new CEO. Sounds crazy, right? So is running for Congress where most congressional occupants are way less than honest and honorable. So yea, I am trying to get a hold of Elon Musk on Twitter, but I think I'm being shadow banned by Twitter, possibly because I haven't used it that much. Elon and I are literally on opposite ends of this existence. Elon grew up Uber rich in South Africa, I grew up uber poor near Allentown. Yet we are both men of vision. We should talk, I will explain some of my "Big Think" ideas from my recent Congressional campaign such as how to rob energy from hurricanes and how Elon's Giga factories can help, a proper reckoning of our mass surveillance laws, and the biggie taken from #2 at shupeforcongress.com "To replace corrupt and corruptible political parties, by invoking direct and participatory democracy using pre-existing political boundaries. And enhancing voter participation by directly engaging and consulting with the registered voters to perform legislative business. The idea here is to get the left wing and the right wing to work together at the local level to the serving politician". Another way to put it is to discriminate in favor of the registered voter. And wall it all off from the surveilance bovine manure built into social media, and the rest of the planet. Or, in the seemingly more likely event I will not be named CEO, I will continue to watch Twitter implode from all the bad decisions, bots, psy op campaigns, and Republican fuckery. It's Speaker McCarthy, FINALLY!

Good morning, today on The Meter, we will cover Speaker Kevin McCarthy! After 3 days and 15 ballots, McCarthy went over-the-top by a single vote as 6 Republicans voted present instead of for another candidate. This reduced the magic number needed and McCarty became the newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives. Now, the people's work can resume with the swearing in of the 118th Congess. This process was the longest since the 34th Congress in 1855. Democrats and their media allies relished the moment as McCarthy struggled to convince his fellow Republicans he's the one for the job. Hakim Jeffries of New York is the new Democrat leader. What does this mean for Republicans moving forward? Also, January 6th marked 2 years since the Capital protests that left an unarmed American war veteran dead from an intentional gunshot wound. Ashli Bobbit was remembered by Trump supporters who attended, what seems to now be an annual event in Washington, DC. Democrats also visited to continue to call the event an insurrection. Joe Biden and top Democrats were also present to "honor" law enforcement from the day. Donald Trump has announced his 3rd bid for the Presidency in light of other rising stars in the Party and Republican underperformance in the midterms. How will all of this affect the 2024 elections? Finally, Joe Biden will visit the border on the cusp of his upcoming trip to Mexico City. The border went from secure to chaotic under the Biden administration's open borders policy. Today’s show features Mark Newhouse author of The Devil’s Bookkeepers, which won the Grand Prize Fiction Series and First Prize Hemingway Wartime Series awards in the Chanticleer International Book Awards, the Gold Medal Historical Fiction, and Book of the Year in the Florida Writers Association’s Royal Palm Literary Awards, and Book 3 won 1st Prize Historical Fiction, Eric Hoffer awards. Mark taught on Long Island, which inspired his award-winning children’s mysteries, Welcome to Monstrovia, and its sequels.
Mark is the founding President of Writers League of The Villages, ‘Top Cat’ of Writers 4 Kids, he writes the Village Neighbors magazine Writing Bug column and is the Youth Chairperson and a Florida Writers Association Director.
